Internal Inclusion Review

Inclusion starts behind the scenes: in your systems, policies, and everyday processes.

Many organisations are committed to accessibility, but their internal systems don’t reflect it yet. Things like clunky onboarding, inflexible rostering, confusing internal forms, or inaccessible staff events can quietly exclude disabled people, even when everyone has good intentions.

An Internal Inclusion Review helps you uncover and fix those hidden barriers, so your workplace is safer, easier, and more equitable for disabled staff, volunteers, and collaborators.

Okay, but what’s an Internal Inclusion Review?

Good question! This service looks at the behind-the-scenes parts of your organisation that impact inclusion. From how decisions are made, to how people navigate your internal systems, it offers a holistic view of your access culture — beyond physical spaces and public-facing work.

It’s not about policing language or pointing fingers. It’s about understanding the systems people move through every day and making those systems easier to access, navigate, and shape.

This review can stand alone or complement other services like accessible hiring, training, or disability action planning.

You don’t need to know where to start, or what to do next, that’s what I’m here for.

What we’ll explore

Internal barriers can show up in unexpected places. This review helps you understand where they are and what to do about them. Here’s what we’ll dig into.

  • We’ll look at how new staff are welcomed and supported from the paperwork to the tech to the tone. A strong start builds a safer culture. We will also review current rates of disability in the workplace and structure in place to support staff with disability

  • I’ll review the accessibility of key tools like internal surveys, request forms, HR systems or task management platforms. If staff can’t easily give feedback or ask for support, that’s a barrier.

  • Are your internal policies, guides or announcements accessible to all staff? I review for clarity, formatting, plain language, and screen reader friendliness. Additionally, I will investigate how flexibility is used by your organisation to meet the needs of your staff, while still meeting business requirements.

  • We’ll examine how your organisation identifies, records and delivers reasonable adjustments for staff. This includes how staff request support, how managers respond, and whether government resources like the Employment Assistance Fund (EAF) are being used effectively. Adjustments are not just legal requirements, they are key to staff retention and wellbeing.

  • I can assess current training, identify gaps, and offer tailored sessions on access, inclusion and unconscious bias. Inclusion is not just about having the right policies, it’s about building a culture where those policies come to life.
